Philosophy

A positive social loop originates with well-off people, who establish better homes that in turn add up to healthy communities that again form a prosperous nation. If, due to the economic circumstances of their families, children are denied the best possible education, the community and eventually the nation will not live up to their full potential. It is our conviction that students without the means to exhaust their educational prospects, when supported by their communities to grow, will eventually reciprocate and contribute to society by  creating a better community and nation.

The Yamato Student Foundation was established as a "regional" foundation to foster talents who contribute to the development of a better society. It provides financial support primarily in the form of scholarships.

Purpose

In Japan, the educational gap has become a serious problem. Those who are blessed with study opportunities and a supportive environment continue to do well, while for those with a less fortunate background it proves difficult to move up the social ladder.

In order to mitigate the impact of the students’ social and economic background,  we will provide, to the best of our ability, tuition subsidies and career advice to motivated and excellent students who meet high academic standards, e.g. for studies abroad. We strive to provide students with an environment of continuous support that allows them to lay the foundation for their future with peace of mind.

Beneficiaries

Junior High School and High School students, regardless of whether the school is public or private, located in Nara Prefecture.

Scholarship support

There are many students in Nara prefecture, in both public and private schools, who are highly motivated to learn, but lack the optimal learning environment required for higher learning/achievement.

For selected students our foundation will subsidize tuition fees and other expenses necessary to achieve the objectives of a higher education, that are not covered by school support funds or other subsidies.

Overseas scholarship support

We firmly believe that the future of Japan depends on its  international competitiveness. An education with an international focus at the earliest possible stage is therefore deemed beneficial as it expands the range of the students’ possibilities.

Our foundation will provide a wide range of support to selected candidates, including tuition fees and other expenses deemed necessary to study abroad, along with pertinent information such as recommendable destinations.

Grants

We will promote the academic performance of students through the award of grants to those who meet high academic proficiency levels. Eligible are all students, not only those who we support with tuition subsidies. The upper limit per student is 200,000 yen.
